December 2019 winner No Kid Hungry

Charitocracy's 40th check to December winner No Kid Hungry for $1048

We have good news about December winner No Kid Hungry, right after this quick update...

Hindsight 2020

Looking back at 2019 from this futuristic sounding year of 2020, I see 12 thoughtfully selected, well-deserving causes receiving our group donations totaling over $18,000. I see Charitocracy crossing the $50,000 milestone in total grants to date. In the website I see incremental improvements, tearing down the "pay wall" and making social sharing easier. But I also see an endless struggle to attract more donors...

I'll write a dedicated blog post about it within the next month or so, but for now a cryptic teaser: 2020 will be a game-changer for Charitocracy. My foresight isn't quite as clear as my hindsight, so I can't promise it will end well. But status quo isn't going to cut it. So watch this space!

December 2019 winner No Kid Hungry

Last night we named Charitocracy's 40th monthly winner. Congratulations to No Kid Hungry, nominated by donor the_fIves. They work to end childhood hunger, and won't be done until every single child in America has the food they need to grow up healthy and strong. You can find their web page here.

Now you have a week to further sweeten the pot with a special one-time donation of any amount, which we'll add straight to the check we write to No Kid Hungry. ❤️

November 2019 winner Americans United

Charitocracy's 39th check to November winner Americans United for $1134

We have good news about November winner Americans United, right after this quick update...

This Tuesday is Giving Tuesday

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving! Something for me to be thankful for: last month, we crossed the $50,000 mark. Nicely done, team! I appreciate you. Big time.

I'll keep it really simple and ask you to do one thing between now and Tuesday. Convince someone, anyone, just one person, to join Charitocracy. A friend, family member, partner in business, partner in life, partner in crime, complete stranger sharing your table at a coffee shop. Your best friend, your only friend, your frenemy, your nemesis. A mentor, protégé, magician, barista. A brother, sister, half, step, in-law, twin separated at birth. A pet that inherited your great-aunt's fortune. (Don't ask me, these are your people.)

Just log in and invite them over email or social media:

One more donor at Charitocracy means one more new voice in our nomination and election process, and more dollars to share with the next year full of monthly winning charities. Amplify your impact!

Last night we named Charitocracy's 39th monthly winner. Congratulations to Americans United for Separation of Church and State, nominated by donor jzp-charitocracy. They are an organization dedicated to advancing the separation of religion and government as the only way to ensure freedom of religion. You can find their web page here.

Now you have a week to further sweeten the pot with a special one-time donation of any amount, which we'll add straight to the check we write to Americans United. ❤️

October 2019 winner Reach Out and Read

Charitocracy's 38th check to October winner Reach Out and Read for $1682

We have good news about October winner Reach Out and Read, right after this quick update...

Sharing is Caring

Over the past couple weeks I've made a big push to improve the experience of sharing at Charitocracy. Whether you nominate a cause, vote for a nominee, or just read about one in our blog, you can share that with your friends and family on social media. That's how we'll attract new donors and more dollars in the monthly pot, without the cost of ads. You are our advertising department!

Sharing Is Caring

Many of the building blocks, such as opening the site content to non-donors, creating share images for each nominated cause, and writing one-liner descriptions, I've slowly completed throughout 2019. But now you can click on those Facebook and Twitter share buttons, and put all my work... to work! While you're at it, go ahead and Like/Follow us if you don't already. Thanks, as always, for supporting us.

October 2019 winner Reach Out and Read

At midnight on Halloween we named Charitocracy's 38th monthly winner. Congratulations to Reach Out and Read, nominated by donor RoamX. They give young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. You can find their web page here.

Now you have a week to further sweeten the pot with a special one-time donation of any amount, which we'll add straight to the check we write to Reach Out and Read. We've already received one giant $500 pot sweetener! ❤️

Before you go, check out this inspiring video describing Reach Out and Read's fantastic Leyendo Juntos (Reading Together) program for Spanish-speaking families. Then feel good about your part in our collective $1682+ grant to help with their work!
