Spotlight on nominee One Tree Planted

nominee One Tree Planted

Next in our series of posts about new Charitocracy nominees, we have nominee One Tree Planted, nominated by donor carolinatim. They're an environmental charity on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. You can find their web site here.

A few words on Charitocracy

Firstly, for newcomers: here's how it works. Donors pool their monthly contributions, as little as $1. The cause with the most votes each month wins the pot. No matter how much or how little you contribute, each donor at Charitocracy gets one vote. This is where charity meets democracy. So please share this post (see social sharing icons at top of post) and ask your friends to join us and vote! That's how we spread the word and, as a result, grow the monthly pot. The bigger the pot, the bigger our positive impact on the world!

About nominee One Tree Planted

One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As an environmental charity, we're on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees!

ONE DOLLAR. ONE TREE.

"When I started One Tree Planted in 2014, my goal was simple: make it easy for people to understand the importance of trees and make it even easier to get trees in the ground. I wanted to highlight the important work these planting organizations were doing, and get more businesses looking at tree planting as a way to give back." -- MATT HILL, Chief Environmental Evangelist, Founder

ONE TREE PLANTED IS A 501C3 NON-PROFIT WITH A FOCUS ON GLOBAL REFORESTATION.

As an environmental charity, we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees!

Started in 2014, we have more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year. Fast-forward to today, we now work with awesome reforestations partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa who help us get trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitat for biodiversity.

In 2020, we more than tripled the impact that we had in 2019 - we planted 15 million trees!

So please visit the page of nominee One Tree Planted to vote for, like, or discuss this cause! And check out this fun uplifting 5 minute film about how they planted more trees than ever in 2020:

April 2021 winner Environmental Educators of North Carolina

Charitocracy's 56th check to April winner Environmental Educators of North Carolina for $1214

We have good news about April winner Environmental Educators of North Carolina, right after this quick update...

Over $75,000 granted

We've been nominating, voting, and granting awards for 56 months now! So it's bound to add up, and we just crossed a nice big milestone.

If ever you wonder how a contribution of just $1 can have an impact, remember that we're multiplying it both across time and across our now over 300 active donors. While most donations are $1 per month, there are enough Charitocracy donors among us fortunate enough to be able to donate more that we average about $4 per month per donor. If you'd like to help increase our monthly pot size, and get us to the $100,000 mark sooner, it's really easy to increase your donation amount! But the best way to get there is always inviting more donors (and thus more voters!) into the mix.

April 2021 winner Environmental Educators of North Carolina

Last night we named Charitocracy's 56th monthly winner. Congratulations to Environmental Educators of North Carolina, nominated by donor florackl. They build connections, provide professional development, and promote excellence in environmental education. You can find their website here.

Now you have a week to further sweeten the pot with a special one-time donation of any amount, which we'll add straight to the check we write to EENC next week.

So finally please have a laugh at this 2019 EENC flash mob, and the following blooper reel! Who says environmental educators have no fun?? Then feel good about your part in our collective $1214+ grant to support their ongoing work.

Have a great May, stay safe, and be sure to log into Charitocracy to update your votes or nominate a new cause!

March 2021 winner Foodshare

Charitocracy's 55th check to March winner Foodshare for $1235

We have good news about March winner Foodshare, right after this quick update...

300 Donors for USA

Last month I talked about how we had crossed the 300 donor milestone in February, if looking at total donors across both Charitocracy USA and the new Charitocracy OBX. But in March, we crossed the 300 donor mark even just looking at Charitocracy USA alone. Well done, everyone, but especially to our recent OBX donors who have chosen to contribute to both the OBX and the national pots. I see you. Your generosity is much appreciated! Next stop: 400!

March 2021 winner Foodshare

Last night we named Charitocracy's 55th monthly winner. Congratulations to Foodshare, nominated by donor MegaMom104. They're a food bank maximizing access to nutritious food and resources that support food security for Greater Hartford, CT and beyond. You can find their website here.

Now you have a week to further sweeten the pot with a special one-time donation of any amount, which we'll add straight to the check we write to Foodshare next week.

So finally please take a minute to admire what Foodshare's been doing for 38 years now! Then feel good about your part in our collective $1235+ grant to support their ongoing work.

Have a great April, stay safe, and be sure to log into Charitocracy to update your votes or nominate a new cause!
