This is the official discussion thread for the cause The NEA Foundation. Its EIN is 23-7035089 and it's a public charity based in Washington, DC. Research more info about the cause on GuideStar and Charity Navigator.

We believe that when educators unleash their own power, ideas, and voices, communities, schools, and students all benefit.

The NEA Foundation’s vision statement:  “a great public education for every student”.   They provide grants to public school educators to enhance their teaching and to support them as they develop innovative  methods to reach students.  Their biggest investment is a district-based program known as Closing the Achievement Gaps Initiative, in which districts with low-income, minority underachieving students are given funds to effect changes in teaching and learning.   They have earned a perfect 100 score on Charity Navigator, a combination of Financial Health and of Accountability.  Their website (www.neafoundation.org) features 3 videos of grant recipients working their magic in the classroom — one a middle-school math teacher in Virginia, one a teacher introducing STEM concepts to his high school students in rural Appalachia, and another an ESL teacher using theater to educate and empower her students.
