We build resilient food systems with locally led solutions, providing meals in response to humanitarian crises.

Because Chef Jose Andres is a world treasure.  With his charity, World Central Kitchen, he steps up where Governments don’t or can’t or just take too long.  I certainly hope he gets the Nobel Peace Prize he is nominated for!!!!

It would be helpful to know what the World Central Kitchen does that is charitable, or a link to their website.

I came here to nominate this organization to find it was already nominated back in 2016! As explained on their site, they provide “meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. We build resilient food systems with locally led solutions.”

World Central Kitchen (WCK) has been doing this since 2010 after the earthquake in Haiti and have helped people all over the world as well as here in the U.S. They are helping people in Ukraine and those who have fled Ukraine right now.

World Community Kitchen has 4 stars, a give with confidence rating, and 100% ratings on financial and accountability and transparency on Charity Navigator https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/273521132.

Here is the WCK website so you can learn more.

Good point!  Look for a blog post about it in the coming week, but in the meantime: https://www.worldcentralkitchen.org/what-we-do

José Andrés founded World Central Kitchen after the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti with the belief that food can be an agent of change. We have expanded globally and have developed into a group of chefs creating smart solutions to hunger and poverty.

Today, World Central Kitchen uses the expertise of its Chef Network to empower people to be part of the solution, with a focus on health, education, jobs, and social enterprise.

    • HealthCleaner cooking with clean cook stoves and food safety/sanitation training.
    • EducationSchool kitchens to support feeding programs that encourage school attendance and provide a source of sustainable revenue for the school.
    • JobsCulinary training to elevate the hospitality workforce, increase earnings, enhance quality of life, and strengthen Haiti’s economy.
    • Social Enterprise: Food ventures that increase income, create jobs, and provide transferable vocational skills to low-income communities.

Since our inception, our work has affected communities in Brazil, Cambodia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nicaragua, Zambia, and the United States.

Join us as we use the power of food to empower communities and strengthen economies.

    WCK is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

While I agree it is a worthy cause and I get behind Jose Andres all the time, it will not get this month’s pot so I beseech folks voting here to rally behind “A Mother’s Rest” such that the current #1 gets bumped.

I have a chef friend who volunteers with this organization. He traveled to the Ukraine border in Poland 19days after the invasion to feed the refuges. He went to turkey after the earthquakes. They really are on the spot helping feed people after/during natural or man made disasters. A very worthy cause.
