Bike Zambia raise money via bike tours to create economic empowerment for women and dignity and improved quality of life for those affected by HIV/AIDS.
Bike Zambia is a program of Chooda, a registered 501(c)3 with a vision of personal transformation and global social change. Chooda’s mission is to create transformative experiences for its participants while providing much needed resources abroad. At Chooda, we believe that by advocating for social justice in the world and by contributing a part of ourselves in service to others, we evolve. In this spirit, we create international adventure experiences where participants challenge themselves in a variety of ways (physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally) while having the opportunity to engage with communities for whom they have raised money and awareness and to interact with the local organizations that are working to make such social change possible. Crucial to our vision is the fostering of positive social interactions between our communities in culturally sensitive and mindful ways.
Bike Zambia is more than just a 7-day, 325+ mile cycling ride. It’s an event created to harness the energy of participants who are inspired to make positive change in the world.
Participants of this life-changing experience will:
- Build community with other globally-minded cyclists,
- Learn about and participate in Zambian culture through immersive experiences, and
- Raise funds for essential local programs focusing on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Economic Empowerment for Women and Girls in Zambia.
Since 2012, over 110 cyclists have joined in making Bike Zambia happen, raising over $650,000 in support of these causes.
