    Animal charity training rats to save lives, addressing global issues like landmines and tuberculosis via R&D of scent detection technology.

    This being the Chinese year of the Rat I thought it appropriate to nominate Apopo’s Herorats!  This charity has for 20 years been training African giant pouched rats to detect landmines and detect tuberculosis in Africa, southeast Asia and elsewhere around the world.  These animals can detect landmines in an area that takes humans 4 days in just 30 minutes.   They can also check up to 100 samples for TB in just 20 minutes.

     

    Celebrates these beautiful rats and vote for this great cause.
