We are working to cure hydrocephalus, an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within cavities of the brain.

Over 1M Americans live with Hydrocephalus. It’s not unusual for someone with Hydrocephalus to have more than 100 surgeries in his/her lifetime. 40% of the shunts in children fail within 2 years. The Hydrocephalus Association started a #NoMoreBS (No More Brain Surgeries) initiative to raise $20M by 2020 to accelerate critical research, expand patient support and education, and raise unprecedented public awareness about hydrocephalus.

Hydrocephalus is an abnormal accumulation of fluid – cerebrospinal fluid, or CSF – within cavities called ventricles inside the brain. Hydrocephalus occurs when there is an imbalance between the amount of CSF that is produced and the rate at which it is absorbed. As the CSF builds up, it causes the ventricles to enlarge and the pressure inside the head to increase. HA advocates for increased research and funding to advance understanding, improve diagnosis and treatment, and find a cure.
