We facilitate and enhance the direct provision of health care to the unsheltered homeless where they live.
We Need More “Street Medicine”
Doctors across the U.S. are carving out a new specialty called “street medicine.”
It is challenging to fund and almost impossible to bill for the care given. Still, it was born out of necessity and is quickly becoming the best way to treat the half a million homeless Americans today.
Homeless people are ten times more likely to die than their same-age counterparts and have limited or no access to medical care.
The hope is that “street medicine” can reach our homeless population where they are so that we can better serve these communities, improve their health, and empower them to get off the streets.
